About The Camino

As a student of Belvedere College S.J. in north inner city Dublin, I am extremely grateful to be educated under the Jesuit ethos centred around being a Man For Others. The school is heavily involved in many Social justice and Outreach programmes, including The Belvedere Youth Club and the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, to name a few.

As I am entering transition year in September, I have been selected to take part in The Camino De Santiago in April 2014. Belvedere Youth Club is funded entirely through voluntary donations from benefactors. To secure the future and continue its work, it depends totally on public goodwill and generosity. The sponsored cross-country cycle has been running for many years now, and has become one of the most important donations for the sustenance of the club.

The trip will last for ten days. Each day, everyone on the pilgrimage will cycle over 50 km. Students & Teachers will stop overnight at selected stops to rest and recuperate. We will continue until we reach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

Funds raised will cover the cost of travel, food and accommodation, however the majority of all donations will be donated directly to Belvedere Youth Club. These will help to maintain the Clubs funding and continue to aid the club in providing for members of The Youth Club.
